VIRTUAL OVERLOOK | 2007 - 2011
2005 is the year Enredaderas begins. The series is the attempt to paint thought. A branch is a thought. The vine is the way thought accumulates and holds.
The year is also the third year of the illness of the artist’s brother, Carlos. He had been diagnosed with Lou Gehrig’s disease three years earlier. The talks were about the body and the soul. The series is marked by that relation. The process was sour and sweet at once.
What changes is the direction of the looking. Until this year the work had looked outside in order to work on what was inside. In 2005 the gaze turns. The interior is examined so that the outside might change.
The year produces a body of paintings and five installations. Both are on the same subject: thought. The paintings stay on the wall. The installations leave it. They travel with the series.
The first exhibitions of Enredaderas begin to travel in 2006. The series does not close. It continues.
